Crafting accessible outdoor experiences for older adults across Ireland's most treasured heritage landscapes.

Why We Created These Trails

nortique Ltd was founded on a simple observation: Ireland's most spectacular heritage sites weren't always welcoming for older walkers.

We noticed something that bothered us. The Hill of Tara royal enclosure — one of Ireland's most significant archaeological sites — existed in a landscape that didn't quite work for people in their 60s, 70s, and beyond. The paths were challenging. The information wasn't tailored. Nobody had really thought about what an older adult needed to experience this place safely and meaningfully.

That's when we started researching. We spoke with senior walkers, accessibility experts, and historians. We visited the sites ourselves repeatedly, learning every slope, every rough patch, every vantage point. The result? We've designed a collection of gentle trails through Meath's most beautiful heritage areas — routes that respect both the landscape's historical significance and the physical realities of aging.

It's not about making things easier by compromising the experience. It's about smart route planning, proper information, and genuine understanding of what makes outdoor heritage accessible. We've been refining these trails since 2019, and we're still learning from every person who walks them.

How We Think About These Trails

nortique Ltd isn't just marking paths. We're creating experiences that honor both heritage and human capability.

Route Design

Every path is walked and measured. We know where slopes matter, where resting spots are essential, and which views are worth the slight extra effort.

Heritage Context

You're not just walking. You're understanding the Tara royal enclosure, the landscape's history, and what made this place significant for over 5,000 years.

Safety First

Graded difficulty levels. Clear signage. Weather guidance. We've thought through what keeps older walkers confident and secure.

Our Commitment to Access

We believe everyone deserves to experience Ireland's heritage landscapes. That's why we've invested in detailed accessibility information, multiple route options at different fitness levels, and continuous improvement based on what walkers tell us. We're not done yet. We're expanding, learning, and making sure these trails work better every year.

Looking Forward

Building Better Access to Heritage

nortique Ltd's goal is straightforward: make sure that age isn't a barrier to experiencing Ireland's most meaningful landscapes. We're expanding beyond Meath, training more guides, and developing resources that other heritage sites can use. Because accessibility isn't a one-time project. It's an ongoing commitment to understanding what works, listening to feedback, and constantly improving.
